Dr Alamelu Ganesan – Medical Director
Dr Ganesan was born in India and obtained her postgraduate degree in India in Paediatrics. Dr Ganesan has been living in Australia for over 25 years and in General Practice for over 15 years. Dr Ganesan is a Fellow of General Practice and holds a master of public health and diploma in child health. Dr Ganesan’s special interests are her “PATIENTS” . Dr Ganesan speaks fluent English and Tamil and Hindi and Bengali.
In October 2016 Dr Ganesan and family took over Matraville Medical Complex and is now the Medical Director.
Dr Tika Limanto
Dr Limanto was born in Indonesia, but attended Medical school in the university of Hamberg Germany and migrated to Australia in 1990. She speaks fluent English and Indonesian. Prior to working at Matraville Medical Complex Dr limanto worked in the public hospital and other medical centres. Dr Limanto’s interests are children and women’s health.
Dr Kim Chuah
Dr Chuah was born in Malaysia, studied in Sydney UNSW. She worked in Concord Hospital, Heathcote GP,Eastern Suburbs as a GP.
She speaks English and mandarin. Dr Chuah’s interests are mental health, women’s health, counselling and Kinesiology.
Dr Jerry Schwartz
Dr Jerry Schwartz graduated from the University of Sydney, and spent almost 10 years in the Public Hospital system involved in General surgery, Accident and emergency, Plastic surgery, ophthalmology and medical administration. He then worked in several Medical Centres before establishing the Matraville Medical Complex. He has a post- graduate qualifications in ophthalmology, laser surgery and was an early fellow in the Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery.

Podiatrist – Hannah Knagge
Hannah believes in true client satisfaction. Her personal touch means that no foot problem is too big or too small. Every treatment is thorough making sure that you get the best result possible.
Since completing her studies at Charles Sturt University in 2009, Hannah has worked in a range of clinical settings including rural remote and metropolitan areas. She has also worked abroad in the UK for 2 years with the National Health Service and in private clinics. During this time, she developed a specialist understanding of the diabetic foot and its complications. While working in private clinics Hannah has helped a wide range of people to overcome conditions including sporting injuries, special podiatry concerns and paediatric complaints.
Hannah has a strong understanding of all aspects of podiatry with extensive exposure to walking and running posture she will confidently help you with sporting activities. She also provides an extremely thorough general treatment and is very confident her customers will feel like they’re walking on air when they leave the clinic. Diabetic patients, in particular will undergo an in-depth diabetic lower limb assessment.
Hannah works Mondays – 12.20pm – 6pm
Physiotherapist- Laura Lee (Senior Physiotheraptist)
Laura graduated from the university of South Australia in 2009 with a bachelor of applied science in physiotherapy. She has over eight years of experience working at the highest level in private practice (musculoskeletal manual therapy) and in the private hospital system.
Laura strives to provide the very best patient care and assist her patients with her vast repertoire of treatment techniques and strategies, in getting back to their full pre-injury potential. Laura enjoys working with patients with chronic pain, postural and other health issues and ensuring they achieve optimum health. She possesses a strong interest in post- operative rehabilitation.
Laura is also continuously maintaining her professional development. She is very passionate about learning new skills and techniques to help widen her approach and provide best practice to patients.
Laura has particular in depth experience of treating beck pain, headaches, back pain, sciatica, musculoskeletal conditions and post- operative conditions. Laura also treats sport injures, musculoskeletal ergonomic injuries, and management of acute/chronic conditions using hands on techniques and appropriate exercise prescription.
Laura is multilingual and can speak English, Cantonese and mandarin.

Dietitian – Kay Chiam
Kay is a Accredited practicing dietitian and nutritionist. After obtaining her bachelor of food science and nutrition at the University of Queensland and her master of Nutrition and diabetics at the university of Sydney.
Kaye specialises in chronic disease management, with a focus on metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and osteoporosis and also consults regarding weight management and general nutrition.
Kaye works Saturdays- 9am-3pm

Counselling is an interactive process between yourself and the counsellor. This gives you the opportunity to address specific concerns in your life. In the counselling session you will be able to talk about difficulties in a safe and confidential environment. It also gives you the chance to look at the stress factors in your life and then to look at ways of coping that allow you to live the life you choose more effectively.

Dr Justyn Huang – Cardiologist
Dr Justyn Huang graduated from Manchester University (Uk), he underwent physician training at the POWH Hospital and completed his specialist cardiology training at Liverpool hospital. After that he trained in advanced cardiac imaging, both cardiac CT at St Vincents hospital Sydney.
Dr Huang has a fellowship at The Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and is one of the few cardiologist who has achieved the highest level of certification in both Cardiac CT and Cardiac MRI

Tamara Mantchakidi – Practice Nurse
Tamara is our practice nurse. Tamara has been with MMC for over 15years.
Tamara is highly experienced in nursing and skilled in various areas of nursing. She is responsible, reliable, caring and straight forward person. She has a great understanding of patient’s needs.

Matraville Medical Complex bulk bills patients with a valid Medicare card.
For all patients without a valid Medicare card the following fees apply:

Also our busy medical team always strive to keep our appointments on time but please be patient as appointments may not run on time due to unforeseen circumstances.

When the surgery is CLOSED
If you require medical attention when our surgery is closed please call our deputizing service on 13 SICK or you can go to your nearest Emergency Department located at POWH Barker Street Randwick.
If you require a home visit we charge a flat fee of $400 per visit (visits will not be Bulk Billed) or you can call our deputizing number on 13 SICK
Patients who are in wheelchairs can easily access the Medical Centre. We have a serviced lift.
We have ample parking on the street and in the council carpark located at the rear of the building in Baird Lane.

Kinesiology- with Dr Chuah
Kinesiology is a holistic approach which uses the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information about a person’s wellbeing. Kinesiology originated in the 1970’s, it combines western techniques and eastern wisdom to promote physical emotional, mental and spiritual health. Kinesiology identifies the elements which inhibit the body’s natural internal energies and accessing the life enhancing potential within the individual.
Matraville Medical Complex offer all our patients that are eligible a health assessment. There are several health assessments available.
Healthy Kids check- This is a review of a 4 year old or school ready child. This is done by our practice nurse. The healthy kids check consists of the nurse going through if the child is up to date with all vaccinations, family history, medical and social history, eating habbit’s, allergies, weight and height, eye sight, hearing, oral health and toilet habbit’s . If there are any concerns or recommendations referrals will be made. A Doctor will sign off on this.
Diabetes risk assessment- This is for patients who are between 40-49, who are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This can be done once every 3 years. The nurse will ask several questions, Family history, history of blood pressure, smoking status, eating habbits, physical activity, waist measurements etc……… You will be scored and assessed on your final score. A Dr will sign off on this.
45-49 year old health check- This is an in-depth assessment of the patients overall health. It also identifies any risks of chronic disease or if the patient has any chronic diseases. And intervention will be recommended. This health assessment can only be done once.
75+ health assessment- This is an in-depth assessment of an older patient. This is performed by our practice nurse. You will be asked your overall health status, if any issues they will be discussed, family and care arrangements, blood pressure, mini mental will be performed, your current immunisation status, physical and daily activity, social status. This assessment can be done annually.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (715)- Offered to all patients that identify as being ATSI. This is an in depth assessment. It is done so the patient can receive optimum healthcare and for early detection. This will help reduce and prevent serious illness. This is performed by our pratice nurse. They will go through your overall health, talk about risk factors, allergies, social history, physical and family history. And if there are any risks referrals will be made.

Our practice is committed to providing you with the best preventative care possible. Practice staff will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system and may issue you with a reminder notice on occasion. If you do not wish to be part of this system,PLEASE LET YOUR DOCTOR OR PRACTICE NURSE KNOW.
If you feel that you have a problem with your health with your healthcare or have had a negative experience when visiting MMC we always encourage feedback.
We have a suggestion box at reception or you can ask reception for an incident report form. All complaints are taken seriously and are confidential by Management of MMC.

GP’s of MMC may be contacted via phone during practice opening hours. If the GP is unavailable to take your call a message will be taken by our friendly reception staff and given to the Doctor. If it is an emergency the call will either be given to the practice nurse or GP.
All test results are strictly confidential and in order to protect your privacy, this practice does not give results over the phone unless they are URGENT or INR results.
The Doctor will tell you at the time of testing when you can expect your results and to make a follow up appointment.
Please also note that we do have a recall policy for all urgent results that must be followed up.

It is a confidential document and it is the policy of MMC to maintain the security of medical records at all times. We will ensure that your information is only available to authorized staff or seek your permission before disclosing it to any third party.
